The Editor’s Desk: The New 5-PATH® Rapid Induction Is Here!

In case you haven’t heard 5-PATHers, we now have an induction to call our own and it is appropriately named the “5-PATH® Rapid Induction”.

Replacing the Old with the New and Modern

I created this induction to replace our old Elman-Banyan Induction. It had served us well for many years but had some faults.

Here are four of the main problems:

1. It could be shorter.
2. Confusion over what “Relax your eyelids so much that they won’t work” means.
3. Confusion over what “losing the numbers” means.
4. Difficulty “losing the number”.

With this in mind, I wrote the new induction and it has now been proven more effective than our old Elman-Banyan Induction, by 5-PATHers around the world. My sincere thanks goes out to all of our testers. In addition to testing the new induction, you provided some very valuable feedback that led to some very important fine tuning.

Fine tuning will probably go on. As a matter of fact, the old Elman-Banyan Induction was fine-tuned over the years until we had the final version that we have been using. I expect that we will continue to do this with our new induction as well.

Our New Induction Comes in Three Different Sizes

More good news! In addition to the new induction there are also two other versions, the short version and the group induction version as well.

Our New Induction Raises the Profession AND Promotes 5-PATH®

One more thing… As great as it is to have an induction we can “call our own” it would be selfish to keep it to ourselves. With this in mind, I have decided to share it with the world. It will always be “our” induction because it is named the “5-PATH® Rapid Induction”. So wherever it goes, it will always be known as our induction, but now professionals around the world will be able to use it.

By sharing this induction with the world, I am hoping to do two different things.

First, the whole profession needs a new and modern induction that is fast, reliable, has a built in test for somnambulism and is very easy to learn (the whole long version of the induction is around 380 words long and fits on just one page of paper).

Secondly, I am releasing it to the world under what is called Creative Commons (CC), which is a special kind of copyright. With this new (CC) license anyone can use and publish the work with stipulations. The stipulations that I have set up is that the name of the induction cannot be changed and there must be an author citation. This way it can be used freely, published freely and the whole profession can benefit. As a result, I expect that this induction WILL go around the world carrying the name “5-PATH®” with it, promoting us and what we do.

To aid in this effort of sharing our new induction with the world, I am in the process of setting up a new website so that folks can find it and use it. Here is the website, www.5-PATHInduction.com. I invite you to check it out. Any and all input is appreciated.

It’s Official

As of January 2016, this is our official induction. It has replaced the old Elman-Banyan induction in our manuals. If you have not yet tried the new induction, I encourage you to do so. I think you will like it very much, just take the time to rehearse it so that you know it, before you use it on your clients.

Happy Anniversary to Our 5-PATH® IAHP Organization

One last thing, can you believe that our 5-PATH® International Association of Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy Professionals is TEN years old already? Wow!

5-PATH® is much older than ten years old having come into existence around 1997 in its earliest form, and 1998 as we would recognize it now. Then it was around 2006 that we decided that we needed to have our own website and organization that would be responsible for providing information to both 5-PATHers and the Certified Professional Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy Instructors (CPHIs). Since then, with the help and feedback of both CPHIs and 5-PATHers, 5-PATH® and our organization has grown and developed into what it is today! I am very much looking forward to the next 10 Years!
